Step 1<\/strong> – Create a SQL user and password. The user should only have reading\/viewing rights.\u00a0This user will be used to extract the data into Excel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2 <\/strong>– Now that the user is created, you need to setup the ODBC Data Sources (64-bit) on your local machine to allow the data extract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.1) Search for ODBC Data Sources (64-bit) from the start menu<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.2) Once open, click on [Add..]<\/strong> to add a new source<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3 <\/strong>– Scroll down and double-click on \u201cSQL Server<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4<\/strong> – Give it a name and paste the SQL Server that you are going to extract the data from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.1) Then click on [Next<\/strong>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 5<\/strong> – Check the \u201cWith SQL Server authentication\u2026\u201d<\/strong> checkbox<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.1) Enter the logins for the generic user that we created in Step 1<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.1.1) Login ID:\u00a0????<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.1.2) Password: ????<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.1.3) Click on [Next<\/strong>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 8 <\/strong>– Click on [Test Data Source<\/strong>] to test if the connection is successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 9<\/strong> – Once it\u2019s confirmed that the connection is successful, click on [OK<\/strong>] and click on [OK<\/strong>] again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 10 <\/strong>– You will return to the first window and now you should see the new data source that you have just added to the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 11<\/strong> – Now open your Excel file, on the [DATA<\/strong>] tab<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11.1) Click on the [From Other Source<\/strong>] icon<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11.2) Select \u201cFrom Microsoft query<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11.3) Select the Data source that you previously created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 12<\/strong> – Enter the login and password for the SQL user that was used to setup the ODBC data source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

12.1) The Query wizard will open.\u00a0You have an option to extract data from the tables or close the wizard window and call data from a specific store procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 13<\/strong> – Select the area where you want to display the extracted data and click \u201cOK<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
